Winning & Baking

Hurray!! I won one of the giveaways from the Sew Mama Sew Giveaway Day! I won a gorgeous fabric flower from The mab Blab blog. Can NOT wait until it arrives in the mail. Thanks, SMS, for the fun event (I discovered a ton of new blogs!) and thanks to Mab for the super fun giveaway!

So, I know I have relatively few readers still, but I would like to apologize for my serious lack of posting of late. My computer has still not been fixed, plus I just returned to work...and it's Christmas,  which has been INSANE. Every day I come home from my office, pick up my sweet baby girl, feed her, eat whatever Ryan made for dinner, and fall asleep on the couch with Lucie. Ahhh...hopefully I'll be returning to my energetic self some day. We'll see!

I have been sewing up a storm, and will be updating the blog about those soon, but right now I am in the middle of a baking storm! So far today, I have made chocolate fudge, dark & white chocolate peppermint bark, homemade marshmallows, and sugar cookies. My wonderful husband made the shortbread so I could feed Lucie, and now we are making stained glass window cookies. Soon we'll be done, and can go to bed...and then up early to make scalloped potatoes and maple carrots for our pre Christmas dinner with my mom's family.

Lucie will be wearing her "Baby's First Christmas" onesie tomorrow...what an incredible little person she is. She makes my heart so full. Love her.

Anyway, over timer just beeped...off to ice some cookies and make some gift boxes!

Yay! Decorated for Christmas!

Hello! So...my computer is terrible. I got it while I was pregnant with Baby L, and it served me well until she was about 5 months old. Since then, however, the screen has been all wonky, flashing constantly, and sometimes the whole thing just turns off. Hence, it is very difficult to blog or anything without going a little bit crazy.

Despite that, I do miss coming on here and blogging, and I do want to update the blog more often. Hopefully a fixed computer is in the (near) future, and that can happen much more regularly! Also, since American Thanksgiving is this weekend, I figured it was close enough to Christmas to start decorating (at least on here, if not at home!). So...thanks to the wonderful Leelou Blogs, I have this adorable new layout. I am planning on trying my hand at a new image since people are starting to buy things I've made...but for the Christmas season, I'll be using this. Leelou has a ton of free layouts (donations accepted and appreciated) and they are SO well done. She also has her services for sale. There is also Leelou Swag, which has a GREAT (seriously, great) bunch of giveaways this week. You can enter them at her website, which is here. Today she has a guy's swag giveaway, which includes and ipod touch. Seriously. So go check out her awesome blog, her great layouts, and enter that giveaway! There are a couple others if you scroll down, too!

Well, I will be back on here soon to update everyone on what I've been working on lately, and what is on my future projects list. Only two and a half more weeks until I need to go back to work...eek.

Have a wonderful day, and Happy Thanksgiving for those of you celebrating!

help me!

Hello!

I need your help. I am in the early stages of developing a magazine/ezine, and I would love to hear what YOU look for in a magazine. Do you want patterns? Recipes? Music reviews? Book reviews? Guest columns from a doctor or dentist? What do you like? Would you rather a print magazine, or do you prefer the ease of just typing in a web address, or getting an URL emailed to you? Do you like contests, pictures, games? Let me know what you like, and maybe send some people my way...I'd love your help! And really, how can I make this work if I don't know what people want?

Thanks!

beautiful baby L

it is love.

So, over the past few projects that I have been working on, my irritation with scissors came to a head...I could NOT get that straight cut. This (and the fact that I needed some new fabric to start my Christmas present making) basically forced me to buy a rotary cutter. I'm in love with it. Every cut is so smooth and perfect. Now to buy a bigger self healing mat...mine is teensy. Shucks...looks like I'll have to make a trip to Dressew!

Anyway, while on my rotary cutter excursion to Fabricana, I also bought some delicious new fabric (bright, bright, bright pink and yellow prints for a felt marker roll for my niece, for one) and some fun ribbon and webbing to make straps for purses.

Here are my current projects:

1. A sewing organizer that hangs over the arm of the couch.

2. A big hand sewn wool blanket. (So excited!)

3. A pile of grocery bag caddies for my family for Christmas.

4. A felt pen roll for my niece.

5. A bright and cheery play mat for my sweet baby L to hang out on.

6. Hat/mitten/scarf set for baby L. I have some super soft pink fleece for the little one - I love remnant bins!

7. A big old stack of patterns that baby L is going to be too big for soon. Must get on those!

Now, I need your help!! I am in desperate need of selvages. If anyone has some kicking around that they don't need...I would love them. Perhaps we could work out some sort of arrangement? Anyway, I have a huge project in mind, and I cannot see myself ever having enough selvages to make it work...so if you have some, let's talk! You can comment or email me at kennedycraft (at) aol (dot) com. Thanks!

I just reread my list of projects...and I should not be blogging, I should be sewing!

ahh, the scent of a crisp new blog...

Welcome to Kennedy Craft. I am a wife and mother who has been lucky enough to rediscover my love of creating beautiful and delicious things while I was on leave after having my daughter. I have been exploring this side of me over the past several months, and am hoping to share what I get up to from now on here on this blog.

Let me start by introducing myself. I am Claire, and I am married to my dear husband Ryan. We have a wonderful daughter, baby L. She is 8 months old, and the happiest, sweetest little goose I've ever met.

I love sewing, although I am definitely at the lower end of the talent scale right now! I am learning more every day, and loving every minute of it. I love to make things for my family, so many of the things that I have made so far have been home or baby related. I love to cook as well, and we tend to eat dinner around 9 pm on days that I get caught up experimenting! I plan to share some of those more positive experiences on here, as well.

As much as I look forward to sharing my own stories on here, and contributing what I am learning to this great wealth of information that I've found, I can not get enough of reading other blogs and learning from you. So please, comment, say hello, and let me see your blog and learn from you. Isn't what this is all about, anyway?
